A Dramatic, Traumatic and Ultimately Humbling Festive Period
The boxing day floods of 2015 affected many homes and business across the region. These floods were on a scale of which we have never seen. The phrase 'do not estimate the power of nature' is one that we have all heard, seen on nature programmes, documentaries and such. However, it is not until you see it 1st hand that you truly appreciated how true it is. The power of the torrent which ripped through Shipley on 26th December left a scene of utter devastation, a surreal scene akin to that of a disaster movie. For ourselves as a business, although we managed to save all of the Sales Vehicles from the forecourt before the water rose, with the effective loss of our entire Hire Fleet and with the integrity of the site itself comprimised, the event proved to be a huge test of resolve. However, an event such as this always seems brings out the best in human nature, the help and offers for help that we received were truly humbling, many from people who we hadn't spoken to in many years and indeed from complete strangers. These events can often provide a timely reminder to any of us cynics of the strength and kindness of people and community. So after the water had receeded the clean up operation started in earnest, and we took some photos along the way.
We still have some way to go before we will be at 100% capacity, but is onwards and upwards for us from here! We will come back stronger than ever before
